This National Disability Rights Week, Move As One Coalition joins the nation in observing this year's theme: "Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development."
Move As One believes that mobility is a right—not a privilege. Yet for many persons with disabilities, everyday travel remains filled with barriers: broken sidewalks, inaccessible public transport, missing curb cuts, unsafe crossings, and pedestrian paths blocked by obstacles. These are not mere inconveniences; they limit independence, dignity, and equal participation in society.
It is when our streets, sidewalks, and public transport are accessible to persons with disabilities that no one feels left behind.
Let's put rights first and build communities that are truly “ligtas, makatao, at para sa lahat.”
